Huntsville, TX – If they beat you, let them join you.
Sam Houston State offensive coordinator Bob DeBesse and offensive line coach Derek Warehime will leave the Bearkats after the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game to join Bob Davie's first-year staff at New Mexico.
The Bearkats' 14-0 record includes a 48-45 overtime win over the Bowl Subdivision program at New Mexico.
DeBasse and Warehime arrived at Sam Houston State after head coach Willie Fritz was hired in December 2009. DeBasse will become New Mexico's offensive coordinator and Warehime will coach tight ends.
"Bob and Derek did an excellent job for us," Fritz said. "We wish them well in their new jobs at New Mexico. We're happy that things are working out to where they're going to be able to finish the season with us."
The Bearkats will meet North Dakota State (13-1) for the FCS title on Jan. 7 in Frisco, Texas.
