The Minnesota Twins placed rookie outfielder Aaron Hicks on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to a strained left hamstring.

Hicks sustained the injury while attempting to beat out a ground ball during the fifth inning of Sunday's nightcap of a doubleheader with the Washington Nationals.

The 23-year-old switch hitter is batting just .179 through the first 55 games of his debut season in the majors, but is tied for third among Twins players with six home runs and hit .280 (7-for-25) in seven contests to begin June.

To fill the roster spot, the Twins will recall fellow outfield prospect Oswaldo Arcia from Triple-A Rochester prior to Tuesday's matchup with Philadelphia.

Arcia, rated the No. 41 overall prospect by Baseball America heading into the season, hit .255 with four homers and 14 RBI in 30 games over two previous stints with Minnesota earlier in the year. The 22-year-old was sent back to the minors in late May.
