The Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday that the team has signed pitcher Kohl Stewart, the fourth overall selection in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

According to Baseball America, Stewart agreed to a signing bonus equal to MLB's recommended slot value of $4.5444 million for the No. 4 choice.

The 18-year-old Stewart was ranked as the top high school pitching prospect in this year's class by both Baseball America and MLB.com and is coming off an outstanding senior season for Houston's St. Pius X High. The 6-foot-3, 208- pound right-hander went 5-1 with a 0.18 earned run average in eight starts this past spring, while striking out 59 batters in 40 innings.

Stewart was also a four-star recruit as a quarterback and had been committed to attend Texas A&M, where he would have began his career as an understudy to reigning Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.
