Twente rolls to 6-2 win at PSV Eindhoven

Eindhoven, Netherlands – Twente dealt PSV Eindhoven its first home loss Sunday, and took control of its own destiny in the Eredivisie.

Four different players scored in the first half and Twente rolled to a 6-2 win over PSV on Sunday at Philips Stadion, even though it had a player sent off in the early stages of the second half.

Ola John, Willem Janssen, Peter Wisgerhof and Luuk de Jong all scored inside 40 minutes for Twente, and the sending off of Douglas Franco early after half was not enough to spark PSV over the final 40 minutes.

After Franco's red card in the 51st, Ola Toivonen scored for PSV but Leroy Fer scored again for 10-man Twente in the 75th. Toivonen notched a second goal for PSV late, but Janssen added his second in the 88th to seal Twente's win.

PSV entered the weekend with a two-point cushion atop the table, but AZ moved into first Saturday with a 3-1 win over Heracles and escaped Sunday's matches with the top spot.

Eindhoven is one point off the summit after its second loss in its last three, and slipped to third behind Twente. Twente won its third straight and moved to second on goal differential.

Twente is just one point behind AZ, but has a game in hand.

Ajax sits fourth after a 4-1 victory over Roda. Lorenzo Ebicilio scored a hat trick for Ajax and Vurnon Anita also scored.

Also Sunday, Jordy Clasie scored as Feyenoord defeated Groningen 1-0, Bonno Wilfried and Mike Havenaar scored as Vitesse downed De Graafschap 2-0, and Utrecht tied NEC 0-0.
