Enschede, Netherlands – Twente kept the pressure on leaders AZ Alkmaar by claiming a 2-0 win over Roda on Saturday to move to within one point of the top spot.
Following an uneventful first half, Douglas Franco headed Twente in front from a corner kick 10 minutes after the break, while substitute Wesley Verhoek netted the second goal for Twente seven minutes from time by finishing off a pass from Ola John.
PSV Eindhoven is two points adrift of AZ after a 2-0 victory at home against Venlo, which remains in the bottom three and four points from safety.
Tim Matavz had PSV on the scoreboard in the 10th minute while it took until the 90th for Memphis Depay to seal the win for the hosts.
Bas Dost scored two more goals for Heerenveen in a 3-1 win at Groningen to give the striker a league-leading 25 on the campaign, while Feyenoord claimed a 3-1 triumph over NAC for its third successive win.
