'TUF' 19 winner Eddie Gordon released from the UFC

"Ultimate Fighter" season 19 champion Eddie Gordon has been released from the UFC following three straight losses since winning the show last July.

Gordon announced the news via Facebook while vowing to make his return to the Octagon one day as a welterweight.

"Just got news from the UFC I will be released," Gordon wrote. "Just want to thank my friends, family fans, Dana White and everyone at the UFC for great opportunities.

"170-pound division is safe for now. I'll be back no doubt about it. Looking forward to the next chapter of this best seller."

Gordon was considered a top prospect coming off the reality show after he picked up three wins on the series, including a victory over current UFC welterweight Cathal Pendred. He made his debut at "The Ultimate Fighter" finale where he blasted through former housemate Dhiego Lima just 71 seconds into the first round.

Unfortunately, Gordon's luck changed dramatically in his next appearance in the UFC when he ran into another "Ultimate Fighter" alum and came out on the short end of a vicious head-kick knockout, courtesy of Josh Samman.

Gordon fell by controversial split decision to Chris Dempsey in his next fight before falling to Antonio Carlos Junior by submission this past June.

It's been a rough run for the four finalists on "The Ultimate Fighter" season 19 with Gordon, Lima, Corey Anderson and Matt Van Buren combining for a 5-9 record overall. Both Gordon and Lima have been released from the promotion in the past few months.
