Doha, Qatar – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga toppled fellow Frenchman opening Qatar Open.
Tsonga earned a 7-5, 6-3 triumph in Saturday's final for his eighth career ATP singles crown. He won twice last year in six title match appearances.
It was not the final many were expecting to see, as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal each reached the semifinals. Federer, though, pulled out of his Friday match against Tsonga because of back spasms and Monfils surprised the great Nadal in a straight-set triumph.
