A key lightweight matchup will headline the first UFC card in South Dakota as Tony Ferguson looks for his eighth straight win as he faces Michael Chiesa in the main event on July 13.
The fight was announced during the broadcast of UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Arlovski in Rotterdam on Sunday.
Ferguson has been a force of nature over the course of the last three years as he's put together one of the most impressive resumes of any fighter in the lightweight division.
With a long string of victories, Ferguson appears to be knocking on the door of a title shot but if wants to get there he's going to have to go through Chiesa in July.
The former "Ultimate Fighter" winner has won his last three fights in a row as he's started to climb up the rankings in the 155-pound division.
Chiesa defeated Beneil Dariush in April and immediately called for a matchup with Ferguson at the post fight press conference.
Now he'll get his wish.
Ferguson and Chiesa will serve as the five-round main event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with more fights to be added in the coming weeks.
