SAN DIEGO – Tiger Woods is back at Torrey Pines to start what he considers to be a big year for him.
Not because he hasn't won a major in five years. And not because three of the majors are on courses where he has won. Woods considers every year to be an important year. He also conceded that he doesn't have 20 years of prime golf ahead of him. He turned 38 three weeks ago.
Woods got the week off to a great start. He was presented the trophy as PGA Tour player of the year for the 11th time. Woods won five times last year, and he's the defending champion at the Farmers Insurance Open. Woods will be going after his ninth win as a pro at Torrey Pines.
