Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Wayne Taylor's walk-off home run helped Stanford defeat Vanderbilt 5-4 to even the series and force a final game in the best-of-three super regional.
Stanford led 4-3 heading into the ninth, but Vanderbilt tied the game with two outs.
Dansby Swanson reached first on a wild pitch after striking out with one out and Bryan Reynolds walked. Vince Conde flied out to the warning track in left before Zander Wiel singled to short to load the bases. A.J. Vanegas hit Xavier Turner with a pitch to usher in a run and make it a 4-4 game.
Adam Ravenelle came on to pitch for Vanderbilt in the bottom of the ninth. He struck out Brant Whiting before Taylor came up to the plate and crushed a 1-1 fastball into the right-field seats to win the game.
Taylor drove in two runs and scored twice and Whiting supplied three hits and two RBI for Stanford, which forced a third and final game that will take place on Sunday.
Vanegas earned the win after giving up one run on one hit and five walks in two innings of relief.
Wiel and Rhett Wiseman each had two hits while Turner contributed two RBI for Vanderbilt, which won Game 1 by an 11-6 score on Saturday.
