The Southwestern Athletic Conference's football championship games and basketball tournaments will be held in Houston the next three years.

The league announced Thursday that the Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted unanimously to relocate the championship events.

The football championship game will be held at Reliant Stadium, home of the NFL's Texans, from 2013-15. The men's and women's basketball tournaments are headed to the Toyota Center, where the Houston Rockets play, from 2014 through 2016.

The football game has been played in Birmingham since it started in 1999. The 2013 game will be played Saturday, December 7. The basketball tournament is scheduled for March 11-15.

It was held in Garland, Texas, outside Dallas last season.
