As we count down to Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif., it's time to look back on the magical and memorable moments in the 49 previous Super Bowls. FOX Sports senior NFL writer Alex Marvez has ranked the 50 greatest moments in the big game's big history, and every weekday from now until Feb. 7 we'll unveil the latest addition to our countdown. Today, we look back at moment No. 9, when Scott Norwood's miss heard round the world sealed Super Bowl XXV.

No missed field goal in Super Bowl history is as well remembered as the 47-yard kick that Buffalo's Scott Norwood sent wide right with eight seconds remaining, allowing the New York Giants to secure a 20-19 upset.

The one-point loss marked the narrowest margin of victory in Super Bowl history and would be as close as Buffalo would come to winning a Lombardi Trophy in four straight championship appearances.

Norwood's miss was synonymous with the misfires Buffalo experienced throughout the game as New York controlled the clock for almost 41 minutes, keeping the Bills' high-powered offense off the field.

Norwood would kick for one more season in Buffalo before ending his NFL career.

Here are highlights from Super Bowl XXV.

Final score: New York Giants 20, Buffalo 19
