Liverpool made it three wins from three Premier League games on Sunday by recording a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Anfield through a fourth-minute goal from Daniel Sturridge.

The result is Liverpool's third successive 1-0 triumph, with Sturridge accounting for all three goals, while United was held without a goal for the second straight match following a 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

Liverpool couldn't have asked for a better start to the game as the club came out with maximum intensity and found itself in front inside of four minutes.

Daniel Agger got up to head a corner kick toward goal and Sturridge was on hand to provide the final touch with a glancing header from inside the six- yard box.

United was left frustrated by a stout Liverpool defense and was unable to carve out many clear-cut chances.

The visitors provided more of a threat after the break, but the best chance they could generate was a stinging shot in the 75th minute from Nani that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was able to parry to safety.

Robin van Persie was given a chance late in the match when he was played into the area by Javier Hernandez, but his sliding effort went wide of the near post.

Arsenal 1, Tottenham 0

London, England - Tottenham sustained its first defeat of the season on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium against London rivals Arsenal as Olivier Giroud's 23rd-minute goal was the difference between the sides in a 1-0 Gunners victory.

Tottenham kept clean sheets in each of its first two wins this season, but the defense was breached midway through the opening half when Theo Walcott took possession on the right wing and picked out Giroud, who was making a nice near-post run. The Frenchman needed just one touch to redirect the ball past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Walcott nearly rounded Lloris at the edge of the penalty area in the first half, but the netminder got just enough of the ball to deny the Arsenal winger, who also threatened after the break but was thwarted by Lloris.

Tottenham's attack largely lacked punch, and the best chance for Spurs to equalize in the second half came during a scramble in front of the Arsenal net when Roberto Soldado's close-range shot was blocked.

Swansea City 2, West Bromwich 0

West Bromwich, England - Swansea City collected its first points of the season on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich at The Hawthorns to move off the bottom of the league.

A bright opening from West Brom failed to produce a goal, and Ben Davies scored against the run of play in the 22nd minute when Pablo Hernandez clipped a ball into the box that Davies hammered past goalkeeper Boaz Myhill with a powerful volley.

Swansea gradually took charge of the contest, and after Hernandez saw a shot skim off the crossbar, he found the net seven minutes from time with Michu providing the assist to close out the win.
