Charles Corbin had 10 points and 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season and Winthrop defeated Radford 74-58 on Thursday night.

The Eagles (8-10, 4-4 Big South Conference) trailed 32-31 at halftime before scoring the first 12 points of the second half to lead 44-31 on Corbin's jumper. Winthrop's full-court pressure and zone defenses forced the Highlanders into five missed shots and three turnovers in their first eight possessions of the second half.

Radford (4-14, 1-7) then outscored Winthrop 12-5 over the next 6 minutes to close within six, 49-43, but that was as close as the Highlanders got the rest of the way.

Matt Morgan scored 13 points, Robbie Dreher added 12 and George Valentine 11 for the Eagles.

Winthrop shot 48 percent from the floor (28 of 58).

Martins Abele had a career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Highlanders.
