Osaka, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Samantha Stosur beat Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas in straight sets Sunday to win the Japan Women's Open title for a third time.
The top-seeded Australian earned a 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 victory, adding to her wins at Osaka in 2009 and 2013 and improving to 6-14 all-time in finals.
Stosur was coming off a run to the China Open semifinals last week.
Diyas, the fifth seed, played in her first career WTA final and led by a break in the first set before Stosur came back to win in a tiebreaker.
