Stony Brook QB Coulter to have season-ending surgery

Stony Brook, NY – Stony Brook senior quarterback Michael ending knee surgery on his left knee.

Coulter, who led Stony Brook two straight co-Big South championships, injured his knee in the preseason, tearing his ACL. He rehabilitated it rather than undergo surgery, was cleared in time for the season, but re-injured the knee in Week 2 against Buffalo.

He played in all four games this season, but only completed seven passes in his last two starts after re-injuring the knee.

Coulter will not appeal the NCAA for another season of eligibility, so his career will end with him having thrown over 4,200 yards and 32 touchdowns in 26 straight starts.

Kyle Essington will start against Presbyterian, a junior who has completed 6- of-18 passes for 64 yards and touchdown.
