The 49ers endured arguably the toughest offseason ever.
Multiple players retired, many left in free agency, the coaching staff changed.
When asked about the state of the team, 49ers great Steve Young did not hesitate in voicing his opinion.
"From a long time player and observer, it's scary right now," Young said, via CSN Bay Area. "I'm sure internally, inside the building, it has to feel a little (different)."
For a club that reached three straight NFC Championship games prior to 2014 and is just two seasons removed from a Super Bowl appearance, enduring a .500 record last season was something many didn't expect.
And now, there lies a big challenge ahead for the 49ers in 2015, particularly in a tough NFC West division.
