NEW YORK (Reuters) - Struggling kicker Jeff Reed has been released by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team said on Tuesday.
Reed, who began the season as Pittsburgh's most accurate kicker and second all-time scorer, has missed seven of 22 field goal attempts this year, including a 26-yarder in Sunday's 39-26 loss to New England Patriots.
To replace Reed, the Steelers signed former Dallas and Washington kicker Shaun Suisham to a one-year contract.
