London, England – The United States continued its Olympic gold medal defense with a win on Tuesday, and has yet to drop a set at the London Games.
The U.S. defeated Germany 25-23, 25-16 and 25-20 at Earls Court, building off Sunday's straight-sets win over Serbia. Clayton Stanley had a game-high 16 points for the Americans and Matthew Anderson added 15. Gyorgy Grozer led the Germans with 12 points.
Serbia won its Pool B game on Tuesday, posting a four-set win over Tunisia. Brazil, the runner-up to the U.S. four years ago in Beijing, also defeated Russia in straight sets.
Also in Pool A, Bulgaria defeated Poland, Italy topped Argentina and Australia beat Great Britain. Bulgaria and Italy won in four sets, while Australia won in straights.
