LONDON (AP) Tottenham signed Cameroon striker Clinton Njie from Lyon on a five-year contract on Saturday to fill the gap left by the departure of Roberto Soldado.

Njie, who completed the move on his 22nd birthday, is Spurs' fourth summer signing and will provide competition for Harry Kane up front.

Soldado agreed to join Villarreal on Friday, while fellow striker Emmanuel Adebayor has not being given a squad number for the new season.

Njie is a quick forward who can play as a central striker or on either flank.

Njie says ''I'm still young, still growing up and it's a big challenge.''

The deal is subject to Njie gaining a work permit.
