Tottenham revealed on Friday that midfielder Sandro has been ruled out for the remainder of the season following knee surgery.

The Brazil international was substituted in the first half of Saturday's scoreless draw at Queens Park Rangers, having gone down holding his right knee after stretching for the ball.

Sandro took to his Twitter account following the operation, saying: "Many thanks to everyone for their support...I'll be fine...to fight again...Come on you Spurs."

The 23-year-old joined Tottenham from Internacional in July 2010 and has scored a pair of goals in 80 appearances with the White Hart Lane side. He has also been capped 16 times by his country, helping them take the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Spurs sit in fourth place and have taken 40 points from 22 matches this term, leaving them 11 points behind league leaders Manchester United.
