The Southland Conference on Tuesday suspended Central Arkansas strong safety Jestin Love for the first half of Saturday's game at Northwestern State for making physical contact with game officials last weekend.

Love, a sophomore from West Memphis, Ark., was ejected in the second quarter of a conference game against Southeastern Louisiana.

"Student-athletes making contact with the game officials is a clear violation of the NCAA football playing rules, and is also defined as misconduct by the Southland's sportsmanship bylaws," conference commissioner Tom Burnett said. "Our game participants play at an exciting, emotional level, but must do so within the parameters set by the NCAA and conference."

Love leads the No. 25-ranked Bears with both four interceptions and four pass breakups, and is second with 53 tackles.
