ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) Jalen Simmons ran for 159 yards, and Justin Taylor had a rushing and receiving touchdown to help South Carolina State beat Florida A&M 36-0 on Thursday night.

South Carolina State led 16-0 at halftime and, in the third quarter, Caleb York found an uncovered Taylor out of the backfield for a short touchdown reception. In the fourth, Taylor ran untouched off the left side for a 14-yard score.

Taylor finished with 63 yards on the ground and Dondre Lewis-Freeman added 83 for South Carolina State (2-1, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). The Bulldogs had 447 yards rushing.

Lewis-Freeman capped a nine-play, 95-yard drive with a touchdown run of 11 yards to give South Carolina State a 10-0 lead. Tyler Scandrett had three field goals in the first half, connecting from 21, 27 and 38 yards.

Florida A&M (0-3, 0-1) was outgained 601 yards to 242 and had just 10 first downs.
