PARIS -- Second-division strugglers Sochaux reached the French Cup quarterfinals with a shock 2-1 victory at home to Monaco on Tuesday.
Sochaux fended off Monaco's early attacks and then hit back against a side that lies second in the French top-flight. The hosts opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Florian Martin beat reserve goalkeeper Paul Nardi with a calm finish after Fabinho gave the ball away.
Sochaux had several chances to extend its lead but Monaco equalized against the run of the play seven minutes before halftime, courtesy of Tiemoue Bakayoko's header from Joao Moutinho's cross.
Hadi Sacko netted the winner in the 54th minute with a left-foot shot into the top corner.
Gazelec Ajaccio joined Sochaux in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win at fourth-tier Saint-Malo.
