New Inter Milan manager Claudio Ranieri believes midfielder Wesley Sneijder could be facing an extended spell on the sidelines because of a thigh injury.

The 27-year-old missed out on Inter's 3-1 win over Bologna on Saturday and Ranieri confirmed that the Dutchman will not take part in Tuesday's Champions League match with CSKA Moscow.

Sneijder scored four goals and assisted on five more in 22 Serie A matches last season, but Ranieri feels as though his injury is more serious than originally believed.
