BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Cole Mazza rushed for 131 yards, Jerami Singleton added 113 and each scored fourth-quarter touchdowns to help Stetson put away Division III Birmingham Southern 37-19 on Saturday.
Singleton finished with three touchdowns for the Hatters (2-2). His second gave Stetson a 23-19 halftime lead and his third made it 30-19 early in the fourth quarter.
After stalling a late Birmingham Southern drive, Mazza's 3-yard run capped a 70-yard drive with 1:57 left.
Ryan Tentler threw for 133 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for Stetson.
Following Singleton's first TD, the Panthers' Michael Cowan caught a 75-yard strike from Mickey Courtney. Ryan Power intercepted Courtney's pass on the two-point conversion attempt and ran it back to put Stetson up 16-12.
An interception by Ty Keenum set up a 39-yard rushing touchdown by Joe Moultrie, giving Birmingham Southern a brief 19-16 lead before Stetson pushed ahead late in the first half.
