St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals placed pitcher Tyler Lyons on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left shoulder strain.

The news comes a day after Lyons gave up nine runs in four innings of a 17-5 shellacking at the hands of the Chicago Cubs. It was his fourth start and sixth appearance this season.

The loss dropped Lyons' record to 0-3, while his ERA spiked from 3.43 to 6.12.

St. Louis also recalled pitchers Sam Freeman and Jorge Rondon from Triple-A Memphis and optioned pitcher Eric Fornataro to its top minor league affiliate.
