BANGALORE, India – Serbia's non-playing captain Bogdan Obradovic is confident of beating India in their Davis Cup World Group playoff which starts Friday, saying his team is "one of the best in the world" even in the absence of Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic opted out of the series on hard court in Bangalore due to fatigue.
Obradovic said Thursday everything depends on how well a team plays, rather than who is playing in the team.
Serbia is also without its second-best player, Janko Tipsarevic, due to injury, leaving 61st-ranked Dusan Lajovic to play the opening singles against 153rd-ranked Yuki Bhambri. The 108th-ranked Filip Krajinovic will take on 144th-ranked Somdev Devvarman in Friday's other singles match.
Saturday's doubles will feature India's Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna against Nenad Zimonjic and Ilijua Bozoljac.
