SE Missouri St beats Hannibal-LaGrange 86-54 with late spurt

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Antonius Cleveland scored 16 points and Denzel Mahoney added 13 to give Southeast Missouri State an 86-54 win against NAIA-member Hannibal-LaGrange on Sunday.

Milos Vranes' 3 for the Redhawks made it 57-47 with 8:47 to play and marked the first double-digit lead the Redhawks had in the second half. Southeast Missouri State outscored the Trojans 29-7 the rest of the way.

The Trojans gave Southeast Missouri State (1-0) a fight in the first half as the Redhawks led 38-31 at halftime.

Trey Kellum's jumper gave the Redhawks a 12-2 lead that was immediately followed by Tim Pace's 3 at the other end. Tahj Eaddy hit a 3 to lead 15-5, but D'Avonte Garland made a jumper and Demetrius Early's 3 brought the Trojans to within 15-10.

Pace later hit a 3 to tie it at 25 with 5:22 left before halftime. Izack Hively then hit a 3 to give Hannibal-LaGrange its only lead of the game.
