London, England – Arsenal defender Andre Santos could be "out for a while" according to manager Arsene Wenger after the Brazilian picked up an ankle injury in his team's Champions League match with Olympiacos on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old sustained the injury in the second half of Arsenal's 3-1 defeat to the Greek side, with Wenger stating after the match that Santos was set to miss Satureday's game against Everton and possibly much longer.
"Santos suffered a bad ankle injury. He looks like he will be out for a while," Wenger said.
After joining the Gunners from FC Porto over the summer, Santos struggled to find top form but has rebounded nicely to become a steady presence in the back line for Wenger.
He has scored one goal in eight league appearances this season for an Arsenal side that sits in fifth place.
