The Buffalo Sabres have announced the signing of defenseman Mark Pysyk, their 2010 first-round draft pick, to a three-year entry level deal.

"Mark is a very intelligent hockey player who has played in all situations in junior," Sabres GM Darcy Regier said in a press release. "He is a very strong skater with good puck moving abilities, and is developing into a very solid two-way defenseman."

The 23rd pick in last year’s Entry Draft, Pysyk played the last four seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL.

Pysyk led Oil Kings defensemen in scoring during the 2010-11 season with 40 points on 6 goals and 34 assists in 63 games. Pysyk was also the Oil Kings’ leading scorer among defenseman during the 2009-10 season despite missing 24 games with a foot injury. He also led Oil Kings defensemen in scoring with 20 points in the 2008-09 season.

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Pysyk also attended the 2011 Canada World Junior Team selection camp.
