Sam Reinhart had a goal and an assist as part of a three-goal first period, leading the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.

Buffalo also got goals from Jack Eichel, Evander Kane and Marcus Foligno as it snapped a 0-6-4 skid against Colorado. It was the Sabres' first win against the Avalanche since beating them 6-4 on Dec. 4, 2005. Foligno sealed the victory by scoring into an empty net with 1:50 left.

Goalie Robin Lehner made 34 saves to bounce back after allowing 11 goals in his previous three starts.

Erik Johnson scored for Colorado, which closed a three-game road trip with a 2-1 record.

The Avalanche lost in regulation for the first time in eight trips to Buffalo. They had gone 6-0-1 at Buffalo since a 2-1 loss on Dec. 23, 1999.
