Russell leads Ohio State over Indiana

Columbus, OH ( - D'Angelo Russell had 22 points and 10 assists as Ohio State pulled off an 82-70 win over No. 23 Indiana on Sunday.

Jae'Sean Tate had 20 points and six rebounds in his second career start, while Marc Loving added 12 points for the Buckeyes (16-5, 5-3 Big Ten), who have won their last two.

Yogi Ferrell scored 26 points and Collin Hartman gave 12 on 4-for-5 from behind the arc for the Hoosiers (15-5, 5-2), who had won four straight coming in.

Indiana came out strong and held an early lead until a 10-0 run from Ohio State saw the Buckeyes take a 25-19 lead after Tate hit a free throw with 9 1/2 to play in the first half.

The Hoosiers responded with consecutive 3s to tie the game, but the Buckeyes gave another 10-0 run and eventually took a 38-32 lead into the break.

"The way they started the game led me to believe they just wouldn't miss, but we got down, stayed the course defending and I'm proud of how they came together to win that game," OSU head coach Thad Matta said.

Tate ripped off six straight points early in the second half to give the Buckeyes a 46-35 lead.

Hartman, though, hit a pair of three pointers, the second of which coming with just over four minutes to play to cut Indiana's deficit to 70-63.

After Tate and Ferrell exchanged layups, Shannon Scott connected on a three- point play. Tate then made a layup for a 12-point lead with just over two minutes left to put the game away.

"The bottom line today is D'Angelo Russell and Shannon Scott played the way we couldn't let them play," IU head coach Tom Crean said. "They never got uncomfortable and therefore everybody on the team was a beneficiary of it."
