Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Royals and third baseman Mike Moustakas avoided arbitration, agreeing on a one-year contract Tuesday.

Moustakas, 26, hit just .212 with 15 homers and 54 runs batted in over 140 games last season. In the postseason, he batted .231 with a franchise-record five homers and seven RBI in 15 games for the AL champions.

For his career, the four-year veteran has a .236 average with 52 homers and 199 RBI. His best season came in 2012 when he hit .242 with 20 home runs and 73 RBI.
