Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Royals and left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract on Friday.

The deal is for $2.425 million, according to MLB.com.

Duffy went 9-12 with a 2.53 ERA in 31 games (25 starts) for the Royals last year. He also appeared out of the bullpen in three postseason games, including two during the World Series against the Giants.
