New Jersey-born forward Giuseppe Rossi has agreed to a three-year contract extension with Villarreal through the 2015-16 season.

Rossi leads the Spanish club with 19 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions this season, including 11 league goals.

The 22-year-old was born to Italian parents in Teaneck and raised in Clifton. He has 66 goals in 121 appearances since signing with Villarreal from Manchester United in 2007. Rossi also spent time with Newcastle and Parma before joining the Yellow Submarine.

Rossi decided against playing for the U.S. national team and made his Italian national team debut in 2008. He was bypassed for last year's World Cup but has three goals in 18 appearances for the Azzurri.
