New York, NY – Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose and Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant have been named the Eastern and Western Conference players of the week, respectively, for games played January 9 through January 15.
Rose averaged 24.0 points and 9.3 assists in 38.8 minutes in four games as the Bulls ripped off 5 straight victories. Rose recorded two double-doubles this past week, including a 31-point, 11-assist performance in a 111-100 victory over the Timberwolves.
Bryant helped the Lakers to a 3-1 week, leading the league with a 43.0 point average. Bryant put on a show with four straight 40-plus point performances, all while nursing an injured right wrist.
Other nominees were Atlanta's Josh Smith, Detroit's Greg Monroe, Houston's Kyle Lowry, the Clippers' Blake Griffin, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, Orlando's Dwight Howard, and Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala.
