Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo won't play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals because of a back injury.
The Cowboys made it official Sunday morning on their Twitter feed, a few hours after NFL.com had first reported the news.
Brandon Weeden took the all the reps in practice this week and will make the start.
Romo took part in the Cowboys' walk-through on Saturday, when it was also reported by the Dallas Morning News and other media outlets that the 34-year- old veteran has two fractures of the transverse process in his back.
The transverse process is a small bony projection off the right and left side of each vertebrae.
Romo was hurt in the third quarter of Monday's overtime loss to Washington, although he did return for the final series of regulation and Dallas' lone possession of overtime.
The Cowboys initially said Romo had a contusion, but he didn't practice all week and was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report.
There has also been speculation that Romo could miss next week's game against Jacksonville in London. The Cowboys then have a bye in Week 11.
