Rome, Italy – Roma has secured the services of striker Mattia Destro from Genoa, initially on loan but with a permanent transfer expected to follow.
The capital club allowed striker Fabio Borini to leave for Liverpool this summer, but the arrival of Destro, who scored 12 goals while on loan at Siena last season, helps to fill a big void.
Destro is believed to have attracted interest from Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan, and his stay in Rome is likely to last beyond this season.
The 21-year-old will cost Roma an initial fee of $14 million, with the club having the option to make the move permanent for an additional $5.5 million.
