The Oilers are getting contributions from just about everyone on the roster right now. That could help them break out of their long scoring drought against the Blues.
Edmonton looks to win five straight for the first time in nearly two years, but to do so it will have to find a way to score for the first time in its last three outings against visiting St. Louis.
The Oilers are among the NHL leaders with 14 points after finishing with the fewest in the league in each of the past two seasons. They are on their first four-game winning streak since Nov. 29-Dec. 4 of last year following Friday's 3-1 victory over the hosting Avalanche.
Edmonton got a pair of goals from the blue line by defenseman Cam Barker and Andy Sutton, while Ryan Smyth had a goal and assisted on the other two. Barker netted his first goal with the Oilers, while Sutton snapped a string of 60 straight games without a tally.
"It's a great feeling to finally get one," Sutton said. "We don't get many chances from the back end. It was great to help out."
Sutton, though, won't get a chance to help out tonight as he was suspended on Saturday for a high hit to Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog. Sutton will miss at least tonight's game prior to an in-person hearing scheduled for Monday.
Head coach Tom Renney opted to go with Devan Dubnyk in net and he stood tall with 40 saves. Nikolai Khabibulin had started the previous four games in net and leads the NHL with a 0.97 goals-against average and .964 save percentage to go along with a 4-0-2 mark.
"Last year I was just happy to be here, and now just over a week it felt like a long time since I've played," Dubnyk said. "I felt good about coming in."
Edmonton, which is 5-1-1 at home on the year, hasn't won five straight since Dec. 3-11, 2009, but has been shutout in its last two games versus the Blues. That includes a 5-0 St. Louis victory in the last meeting at Rexall Place on Feb. 25, giving the Blues a 3-0-1 mark in their last four in Edmonton.
Overall, St. Louis has won three straight and is 6-0-1 in the past seven matchups in this series.
The Blues were denied a fourth victory in a row on Friday in Calgary, dropping a 3-1 decision. Alex Steen netted his team-leading sixth goal, his third in two games.
"I thought our guys stuck to the game plan. We earned our chances. There wasn't going to be any easy freebies out there," said St. Louis head coach Davis Payne.
Brian Elliott suffered his first loss of the season after stopping 15-of-17 shots faced. He dipped to 4-1-0 on the year with a 1.67 GAA and .942 save percentage in six games, including five starts.
No. 1 Jaroslav Halak hasn't played in the last four games and sports a 1-4-0 record, 3.47 GAA and .835 save percentage on the year. He did make 12 saves in a shutout victory at home over the Oilers when he last faced them, giving him a 2-0-1 mark and 1.94 GAA in three starts against them.
The Blues failed on three power-play chances on Friday, making them 1-for-28 in their last eight games on the man advantage.
"We've got to find a way to get out on top. We have some chances on the power play as well," said Payne. "We had some open-net looks and still haven't seen exactly how they stayed out, but we've got to make sure a couple of those go in."
St. Louis has just two goals on 33 power-play opportunities this season.
The Blues will be without defenseman Kent Huskins, who is out after fracturing a bone in his left ankle versus the Flames.
