NEWARK, N.J. – Desi Rodriguez scored all four of his points in the final 1:52 and Isaiah Whitehead drew a charge with just .7 left to help Seton Hall clinch a 58-54 victory over George Washington on Saturday at the Prudential Center.
Whitehead drew the charge on Kethan Savage, who scored 19 points, to preserve a 56-54 lead before Sterling Gibbs sank two free throws with .3 left to clinch it.
Whitehead's 3-pointer staked Seton Hall (5-0) to a 48-45 lead before Yuta Watanabe of Japan made 3-pointer, as the shot clock was about to expire, to tie it with 4:57 to go.
Angel Delgado's basket inside regained the lead for the Pirates, 50-48.
George Washington (3-2) opened the second half with a 10-3 run to grab a five-point lead.
Seton Hall got its first field goal of the second half on Delgado's basket with 13:59 to go, cutting its deficit to 33-30.
