DENVER (AP) Right-handed pitcher David Hale has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Colorado Rockies and was scheduled to start Tuesday night's game against the Washington Nationals.

The Rockies made roster room for Hale the day before, when they optioned left-handed pitcher Ken Roberts to Triple A Albuquerque.

Hale takes the place in the rotation of Eddie Butler, who was optioned last week to the club's Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque. Butler was 3-10 with a 5.90 ERA before being sent to Albuquerque.

Hale had been on the disabled list since July 10 because of a left groin strain. He was 3-4 with a 5.69 ERA in nine games - eight of them starts - for Colorado this season.
