NEW DELHI (AP) Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise will play for Delhi Dynamos in the second season of the Indian Super League.

The 34-year-old Riise joins Brazilian player-manager Roberto Carlos and French player Florent Malouda in the Delhi team, which failed to make the semifinals in the opening season.

Riise, known for his stamina and powerful shooting, is the most-capped player for Norway with 110 matches. After leaving Liverpool, he played with Roma, Fulham and Cypriot club APOEL.

A team statement quoted former Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos as saying that Riise will ''help in the development and evolution of the team'' and that he was a ''true leader on the field.''

The eight-team franchise-based ISL will run from Oct. 3- Dec. 20 at different venues across the country.
