FC Porto announced Tuesday that the club has signed Mexico defender Diego Reyes on a five-year deal from Club America.

The 20-year-old, who won a gold medal at the Men's Olympic Football Tournament in London over the summer, will move to Portugal at the end of European season.

"Diego Reyes, 20, will be a Porto player," a statement on Porto's official website read. "The young Mexican has signed a contract until 2018 and will join the Dragons for the start of next season.

"Reyes is one of the most promising center-backs in the world, despite his youth. In the summer he became an Olympic champion with Mexico and attracted the interest of several leading European clubs."

The transfer fee was not disclosed.
