FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn knows the Razorbacks don't have the same preseason hype as a year ago. He is not about to let expectations dip too much.
After beginning last season as the top-ranked team in the country, Arkansas enters this season ranked 25th by Baseball America.
The Razorbacks, who were eliminated in the NCAA tournament regionals last season by Kansas State, feature 27 new players this season after having 11 players taken in last summer's Major League Baseball draft.
They are led offensively by second baseman Brian Anderson, who led the team with a .325 batting average last season, while the pitching staff is undergoing a makeover following last season — when it led the country with a 1.89 team ERA.
