BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A person with direct knowledge of the decision has told The Associated Press that Buffalo Bills receiver Chris Hogan has signed a three-year, $12 million contract offer extended to him by the New England Patriots.

Hogan is a restricted free agent whose rights were retained by Buffalo on Monday. Though the Bills have five days to match the Patriots' offer, it's unlikely to happen because they have little salary cap space available.

The person said the deal is structured so that Hogan's contract will count $5.5 million against the payroll this season.

Hogan completed his third season in Buffalo and finished fourth on the team with 36 catches for 450 yards and two touchdowns.
