(SportsNetwork.com) - Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was fined $50,000 by the NFL for not speaking to the media throughout the season, ESPN reported on Sunday.

The league requires players to talk to the media.

Lynch broke his silence and briefly spoke to reporters Friday, but it was a little too late for the NFL's liking.

The 27-year-old Lynch rushed for 1,257 yards and 12 touchdowns this season while adding a career-high 316 receiving yards and two scores through the air.

The NFC's top seed, the Seahawks were off this weekend. They will host New Orleans in the divisional playoffs on Saturday after the Saints edged the Philadelphia Eagles, 26-24, on a last-play field goal.
