Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia and the Boston Globe are reporting that Bruins center David Krejci will miss the rest of the season with a broken right wrist suffered in the first period of Game 3 of Boston's Eastern Conference Semifinal series with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The injury occurred when Philadelphia captain Mike Richards leveled Krejci with a hard open-ice check just over five minutes into the first period. Krejci skated off under his own power, but did not return to the game.
According to the CSN report, Krejci will have surgery in Baltimore.
In nine playoff games, Krejci had 4 goals and 8 points, and had been centering Boston's best line, flanked by Miroslav Satan and Milan Lucic. He also quarterbacked the top power-play unit and was killing penalties.
Krejci's loss is the second top-six forward lost to injury this series. Marco Sturm was lost for 4-6 months after tearing two knee ligaments on the first shift of Game 1.
The Bruins won Game 3, 4-1, to take a 3-0 series lead. Game 4 is Friday (7 p.m., VERSUS, TSN, RDS) at the Wachovia Center.
