When the Denver Broncos signed two-time Pro Bowl offensive guard Evan Mathis, most expected that would be the end of the story. Apparently, though, we got some interesting news from Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn.

As D. Orlando Ledbetter of AJC.com reports , when Quinn was asked about Mathis, he had an interesting statement on the guard.

"We certainly did evaluate him," Falcons coach Dan Quinn told AJC.com. "Thomas and I both did."

Thomas, being general manager Thomas Dimitroff, and Quinn both evaluating Mathis but choosing to pass, is an interesting situation. The Falcons obviously have a ton of offensive talent, but there must be something missing here.

As Ledbetter points out, Mathis was the No. 2 ranked guard last season on Pro Football Focus . Regardless, Mathis is now in Denver, and the Falcons are focused on gearing up for their regular season opener in just a few weeks.
