The Cleveland Browns signed linebacker Chris Gocong to a contract extension Wednesday.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Gocong signed a three-year extension, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting the deal to be worth $16.8 million.

Current Browns general manager Tom Heckert was Philadelphia's vice president of player personnel when the Eagles made Gocong a third-round pick in 2003.

Heckert traded for Gocong prior to the 2010 campaign. Through three games this season, the outside linebacker has recorded nine tackles. He has tallied 253 career tackles, including 6 1/2 sacks.
